Removing rear speakers on 3D Lanos
Hi !
I'm new to this forum, first of all, wish to thanks webmaster and any people who DID and DO the forum.
I own a 1999 3 doors Lanos SE. As the rear right loudspeaker sounds bad (pretty sure, the coil is scratching against magnet), I tried to remove speakers, but I was unable at all.
I removed the 2 screws in the trunk, just under the loudspeaker "box", I was able to see the speaker itself, but not to remove it. The loudspeaker top cover is screw coupled with an interior trimming that rise over and around the rear glass.
Tried to remove the trimming starting from the door strut, but a piece of trimming broke itself. And, worst of all, I still am unable to remove trimming and speaker.
I suppose that someone other had same trouble, either for substitute components with better ones (the original ones are very low quality), or for substitute damaged componets.
How can I remove rear speakers ?
Thank you in advance for any suggestion.

if i remember correctly its a bitch to get them out. you have to get a really short screw driver and pull the panel back as much as possible (be careful not to break it) there are i think two screws inside the panel that are just damn near impossible to get to. i have only taken out one of the speakers then decided to just mount new 6x9's instead in the parcel shelf.
if you wanna go the easy route that would be your best bet. all you have to do to get the wires out is to take the little door panels off that cover the top of the strut and reach in there and find the wires. be careful not to pull the wrong wires though. you should be able to figure it out. then just add some more wire to it to the length you need and the connect to new speakers.
hope this helps. if anyone else has a better way they'll say something.

You have to remove several panels to get to the speakers.
1) Fold the rear seats forward
2) Remove the spare tire cover board
3) Remove the black center rear verticle trim panel that is against the back of the trunk and covers the hatch latch by removing the 3 bolts (they have pry-off plastic covers) and 4 plastic trim tabs.
4) Remove the gray plastic trim tabs along the front edge of the black plastic lower side trim.
5) Remove the screws along the bottom edge of the top grey panel.
6) Remove the black lower side plastic panel below the speaker.
You now have full access to the bottom of the rear speaker.

They only ride in the back of the blue Lanos.
