Post by blackielaw »

Can anybody confirn please wherethe RHD 1.4 Lanos ECU or wiring is please? Will be trying to install a tacho tomorrow and I have difficulty in finding the wires mentioned in the how-to for the 1.5 Lanos (assuming they're the same). Thanks

the ECU on a right hand drive Lanos is in the right kick panel... practically at the right side of the driver's rihgt foot, just remove the plastic cover and you will see it.

On a similar note (also RHD Lanos) is the data link connector for the OBD also situated near the ecu in the right kick panel as I've looked all around but can't find the damn thing?

another dumb question... how should the ECU look like? Is it a big silver box ? and the wires mentioned (i.e. the wire wire and the brown wire) are they clearly visible or are they covered with lots of tape ? I feel so damn stupid

the socket is located on one of two places:

1- under the glove box at the left side... that is for the old LHD Lanoses.
2- at the back of the mid console near the driver's feet, also on LHD.

i think it will be on one of those locations and most probably at the mid consol back side as the lanoses we got here that have the socket in that place also got the ECU in the kick panel (as in your case) rather than beeing under the passenger seat.

this is a standard issue 1.6 DOHC engine ECU... yours will most probably have two sockets only.

the wires will be visavle at the socket through a 5 to 7 cm area before they are all hidden in some sort of a plastic tube.

Thanks for that. I've not yet looked at the mid console but do you know if there is a separate diagnostics socket for the airbag as I can see a 12 pin socket underneath the passenger glovebox but thought that the ecu data link socket used a 16 pin connector.
