GsiTurbo told me that you can find GM factory recaro seats in a Pontiac Lemans GSE (sold in USA) or in Canada it's the Pontiac Optima GSi.
These seats are almost identical to the VW seats you have but they don't say Recaro on them.
The difference between normal LeMans/Optima seat and the GSE/GSI is somewhat hard to see but once you sit in it you will definitly know the difference since the GM/Recaro seats have a billion times better support all around and are much more comfortable.
Needless to say because the Lanos is the same as a LeMans/Optima the seats bolt up to the factory locations so there is no need for universal mounting kits.
I'm trying to find one of these cars around my area but so far I haven't had any luck.

I now have a set of Recaro seats that GsiTurbo found for me but they require modification to fit..... so they are not direct bolt in's like we had thought.
The lanos has a strange bolt pattern.... much larger than most cars (around 17" vs most cars at roughly 14")
Needless to say I should have the seats up and running by spring but I wouldn't suggest the swap unless you feel like doing some welding/fabricating to make them fit perfect.
I could have modified the car to fit the seats (drill and tap new holes) but I figured it was just as easy to modify the seats.
