Suzuki Forenza - Possible Airbag Safety Problem
There is an apparent software glitch with the Forenza airbag computer.
Apparently everybody who owns this car has the same issue. According to my dealer, there is a problem that the airbag software will not recognize the presence of a passenger if they get in the vehicle after it has been running a long time. Right now, they don't even have a plan to fix it.
I don't know how long you'd have to wait to get it to happen, but sometimes when I have a passenger I do notice that the Passenger Air Bag Off light is on.
I have filed a complaint with Suzuki.
If you have the problem, I would suggest that you take appropriate action.
I'll post any response if I get one.

I have a 2005 Forenza and I definitely have noticed that. I wasn't aware it was a known problem. I've heard on other cars it was just a matter of weight, ex. It doesn't identify you as a person unless you are over 100lbs. But there have been a few times where the light still says the airbag is off even when there are two people in the seat? Is there anything I can do to help this?

I just brought my Forenza in to Suzuki to get a few things looked at and I asked the mechanic about the light. He didn't admit to any manufacturers problems but he did say there was a switch that allows you to manually turn the airbag on if the light doesnt go off. I have yet to find that switch.... but now I'm worried about my gears. Sometimes I have a problem shifting out of Park, but only then. Does this sound familiar?
