Post by blueoptra »

do the 2004 chev/(daewoo) optra/(nubira) cars have a governer?
My brother had my car the other day and he was
going 190 KMH he said it was doing this with ease
still puling hard in fifth any sort of explanation cause
I thought that all newr cars were suposed to shut off the
fuel pump at like 140 160 KMH thats what his 93 grand am
and other cars would doo....

hmm fuel shut off?.. well what i know from a friend who has an optra (1.8L) at around 165-170KPH what happens is the RPM just drops from 4800 to around 3500 (keeps going back again but really slow) the car keeps goin increasing speed but not that much till around 180. i think has something to do with a rev limiter rather than fuel shutoff.

same happens in my Epica except i can go upto 190KPH never tried to go higher hehehe :p.
the epicas engine is near identical to the optras in the US.

*message to the kids.. speeding is bad mmmkay!*

I never found any limiter on my Leganza. I had it up past the 140mph/225kmh mark on the speedometer so the needle was against the trip odometer reset peg. :)
