well i changed my shifter already and the boot to a point.
i did it the hard way though. before i knew of this place or .net
i just cut off the rubber part of the knob and then blow torched the plastic part away.

as for the boot i just cut it off the reverse and left it shredded for a long time. then when this last car show came i knew it would look too ugly so i cut the boot in half and cut a red one in half and sewed them together for a two toned boot. looks pretty good. i'll try to take some pics when i have the chance. i also just took my reverse mechanism off. so when i get off my ass i'll just shorten the shifter by like an inch or so.

if anyone else decides to take off the reverse i recomend weening yourself off of it like i did. i took it off for one ride to see how it was and it was a bit scary because i didn't want to be in reverse thinking i was in first gear. you can get the hang of it though. i think after a month of it off i put myself once in reverse instead of first. luckily i was at a bank drive through and no one else was behind me. you don't realize how dependant you are on the mechanism for first gear until its off.
just use precation if you decide to take that route.

search around and see if B & M make a suitable short throw shifter.

the shift boot and knob can be replaced without any cutting whatsoever. lift the boot to expose to small clips at the bottom. undo the clips and the the whole shift stick comes out. them heat some water to boiling point and intest the gear knob head into the wate and leave it there. it will start to soften. then a hit or two with a hammer and off it goes. then just reassamble everything, new boot and knob included. I replaced mine with way, put a nice MOMO kit instead... beautiful!

i know now that it doesn't need to be cut but i did all that before i ever knew of this site or the .net site. i still like the whole two toned boot though.
