Gas Guage

Post by richardmatalon »

Hey guys I have noticed something funky with my gas gauge. When i fill up the tank, it doesn't show the tank is full unless the car is in neutral. As soon as I put the car in drive, the gas gauge moves down showing that there is less fuel. I am not sure if there is aproblem with the sending unit or what. Any sugesstions??

Had something similar happen to me...I would fill up, and the gas guage would only go to up to 3/4 of full, as soon as my tank was 3/4 full and lower, it would read correctly, but I haven't checked if it read full while in neutral. My guess is that my float is getting stuck, but it is too much work to fix it. I don't need to know when my tank is full, only when it is empty.

However, if you find out what it is post it, I would like to know.

the gas gauges in these cars have real problems. Mine is not very accurate, but I guess thats what you get.

I found this on www.alldata.com about Technical Service Bulletins and Recalls:
Bulletins for 2001 Daewoo Leganza SE L4-2.2L DOHC D-TEC MFI

Safety Recalls
TSB Number Issue Date TSB Title
RSB-002-01 JUN 01 Recall - A Pillar Trim Modification

Service Bulletins
TSB Number Issue Date TSB Title
008-01 DEC 01 Engine Control - Crankshaft Variation Learning Procedure
004-01 AUG 01 Fuel Gauge - Inaccurate Readings
005-01 AUG 01 Fuel Gauge - Incorrect Readings
003-01 MAY 01 Keyless Entry Transmitter - Programming Information
Maybe you need to take your car in for the guage to be fixed.

You do not receive Technical Service Bulletins, only recalls.
If I remember correctly, TSB work is supposed to be performed on the car when it is taken in for other work, after the owner is notified of the problem(s).

Some dealers do not tell the car's owner so there is less work for them do do.

Therefore, you may need to bring these problems to their attention.

One, somewhere, is bound to service them.

Luckily, there is one near me that doesn't question service.
The dealer near me does not say Daewoo anywhere, it is a Pontiac/Hummer dealer. LOL
It is funny to see a Lanos parked in line behind an H1 in the service bay.

Locate the wiring harness from the top of your tank. There should be a single black wire alone. If you were to follow this thread you will see that is adjacent to the land, or at least should be. If the connection is corroded, it is possible that the connection is not established. If no ground wire, you must replace the fuel sending unit inside the tank. if that's doesn't work look at some of the Daewoo recalls in here.
