Leganza ECU and high milage

Post by benzino »

As most of the Leganzas I see for sale are automatic,

I was wondering about the computer. In one post, I read that the leganza has hydraulic gear control... so would that mean the manual and auto computers are the same?

I just need confirmation as I think I have enough saved up to get one :D and the autos are cheaper cause they are so common.

Also, what should I be checking in an engine that has done over 200 000 km/120 000 miles? Or is it a bad idea?

Thanks guys
-Ben

Check to see if the timing belt has been changed.

If you want but that's on the extreme side to me. If you are buying the whole car then I'd check the belt, all hoses, basically all wear items.

I know its a bit of a late reply, but i would suggest checking in the Coolant reservoir to see if the coolant is brown/murky.. When I bought my Leganza it was like that and the Heater Core had gotten clogged with rust paricles.. Had to be flushed backwards and forwards for around an hour to get it all out and clean.. I have read that is caused by a certain coolant that was put in the Leganza's in the factory and was meant to be changed? (Dont know if that is true or not).

My Leganza only has 100,000km on it; the rusty radiator, torn CV boots and Radiator hoses needed replacing when i bought it as they had gone hard (bought at 83,000km.) That's the only problem I have had.

thanks for the reply

I ended up buying the car and it seems alright (it lasted a 5 hour drive)

The engine is going in my lanos, so all the cooling system will be flushed anyway. Thanks for the tip
