i have car daewoo celio 1996
i want make myself sure about what of kind of cables i needed
is ALDL (GM OBD1) Cable with 12 pin Connector
OR
ALDL (GM OBD1) Cable with 16 pin
What exactly i must buy to make my pc connect with ECU in my car
And if there is another kind of cable please tell me about it
99.95% sure it's a 12 pin ALDL connector.
You MAY NOT connect directly a PC port to the ALDL connector. Not the same signal levels. You need some "interfacing" circuit.
Do you have software to communicate with ECU?
MMamdouh wrote:the USB cables are a direct link... i had that same cable and was testing it for a couple of months and it works really nice
the ones that need a PCB unit are the serial cables

Hi MM,
What software do you use to communicate with your ALDL ECU? Is it the one's that come with your USB cable? Where did you get the cable?
Hi Daniel
i am using EFI Live Scan Tool software Version 4.6.5.Build.305.Pro and the cable needed a driver... FTDI or some shit like that
i am not sure if their was a CD and if the CD does contain a software or not as i got the cable and the EFI software form a guy to test it prior to writing a report on the local car forum... this is a link to the post i made... OK it is in arabic but i got screen shots for the various screens of the software
Thanks for the links to video & cable but I can't access the screenshots. Anyway I know now that EFILIVE works on Daewoo.
I made a serial cable (MAX232) some time ago but never tried (or needed) to connect it to my car.
the local Arabic forum "Nilemotors.net" is currently closed in condolences for a member that died of leukemia this morning.. he was a daewoo owner as well... i just realized that i got the scanner pics on my photobucket account:
