You can tell if your shocks and struts need to be replaced when you push hard down on your car's bumper and the car bounces back up and keeps bouncing up and down.

If your shocks and struts are good, then the car should not bounce. It should spring right back into it's orrigional position and not bounce.

Shocks that have warn out make your tires wear out faster than they should, the car will lean in corners more than it should and you have less control of yoru car on bumpy roads because the wheels will bounce instead of staying on the road and gripping.

Usually, the car should bounce 2 to 3 times before coming to rest. If its anything more than that, your shocks/struts need to be replaced.
