Foglights!

Post by lanowoo »

Hey i finally got around to posting the pics and everything.. it is going good. and on these pics, i still need to put the wires that travels to the switch, into the rubber grommets but its ok for now..
I am also goign to hide the wires that kinda stick out in the switch, i am eventually going to intergrade it to the side of the steering cover. but thats some other time.. and if you have problems with what i do, just pm me!

Enjoy the pics and tell me what you think.

Lots of people ask me how to install foglights, but its all according to what type and what options/methods do you have in the instructions that apply on the vehicle. Which

I will explain this to the best of my knowledge

First, you need to find both mounting spots, and place to feed the positive and grounds for the foglights.
and you need to mount it in a place that is both practical and useful.. see where i put my lights on my bumper, out of the danger of getting hit by lets say a shopping cart.. and they are easy to get to if i need to change a bulb.

Then after you pick your spot out which is the bumper , cause i know in the lanos bumper has a clearance of an half an inch at the bottom of it from the front shock bumper support. *be careful and check for wires beyond the drilling spots, mark your spots to drill with a marker or a crayon grease pencil. and then drill slowly so you don't warp the plastic that will be most of your support.

When you have the foglights in place, next step is to plan your wiring so that there is no pinch points from moving parts, no rubbing spots where an object will later on rub through the insulated rubber on the wire and cause a short and/or a fire.

Foglights!

The wires that come off of the foglights themselves are tightly snug and out of the way by pull ties. To run the wires into the cabin of the car, there is right above the fusebox kick panel in the 1.6 U.S. Lanos and entrance hole. To get to this grommet, take the drivers side plastic fender cover off, and you can plainly see it. I used the hood latch cable as a guide to tie/ keep my wires up and from getting damaged by any road debris.

Now one of the last things that i did was i picked a place that was easy to get to, and was right out of my direct sight, which was behind the steering wheel on its protective collar that contains the turn signal and ignition switch. i removed it and drilled holes for my switch, and i ran the wires up behind the insturment panel. Which is out of my way and keeps me from tangling or pulling wires out. You may make the switch to be dependant on the ingition switch to be turned to accesssory, but i want to keep it simple and i will later on configure them to work with my parking lights.
