right side wiper arm stuck

Post by Woowagon »

The right wiper arm is not moving when the left does. Something is slipping. I say this because the left arm moves as normal but the right only moves if I help it. If I stop helping it along, it will stop moving again once it reaches the rest position. Experience, ideas, comments?

It's connected by an arm to the other. If the bolt holding the arm in place is loose, it won't move the arm. If you take off the plastic cover where the wipers are (you'll need to remove the wipers themselves), you can get to them and see what the deal is.

same problem, but I had to replace the gear box for that wiper because it was striped, if everything is connected and you can move you wiper by hand when the wipers are off then that box the wiper is connected to is striped.

I can move the arm with them on OR off. I looked for the transmission on the web and did not find any definite sources. Anyone know who might have the correct one? Thanks for the help thus far. For now, I'm off to the garage.

i thought that the wipers rotated on the main motor from a metal rod that moves clockwise and thencounter clock wise at the same time, no actual gears, just two metal pieces moving clockwise and counter CW.

After finding the time to actually LOOK at the problem, I got off easy (and CHEAP). The nut holding the arm to the shaft had come loose (pretty much all at once it would seem). Tightened it up with a drop of Loctite and I'm golden! Thanks for the advice just the same. Great forum.

no, the wiper motor just goes around and around, the transmission is what makes the wipers go back and forth
