New grille (now with pics!)

Post by TheGreatAndPowerfulOz »

I am working on modifying an extra Lanos grille that I bought at a junk yard.

Everyone who mods their grille has mesh, so I didn't want that for my car. :P

So far, I have the center cleared out and am looking for suitable plastic to make the new center grille slats with.
If it turns out as I want it to, the new grille will look like this:

The center grille section will be horisontal and have the Daewoo badge in the center, rather than on the hood.

Wish me luck on finding all the materials needed to finish!! :)

Cool project. Ive always thought that either uniform horizontal, or vertical lines in the grill would be an improvement over the original. cant wait to see it when done.

Thanks for the site, but they are pretty expensive!

My friend works for AIN Plastics in Virginia Beach, VA and I will try to get him to send me a free sample :D

they are expensive for their plastics, but it's about as good as it gets for specialty metals :P

I might find a broken television and cut up the ABS plastic case. :)
Open it, pull the electronics and tube and just keep the outside.
That is a good source of high quality flat black plastic ... and best of all, it will be free.

I know this has been taking a while, but I have not had a lot of time between school, homework, working for a friend and trying to be lazy - LOL - but here are some pics of the grille so far:

When I have finished attaching all the new parts, everything will get sprayed with Krylon Fusion gloss black paint for plastic to make it all evenly black in color.
Then when the chrome trim is screwed back on, it will look great. :)

At least ... I hope it will look great.
