lose hood
First off yes im 100% it was latched.. i tried it three times. At speeds as low as 80mph it looks like its gonna fly up. At 90 i was about to shit myself cuz i thought i'd lose my hood. I know its latched. I tried opening it with alotta work w/o popping it and couldnt get it open. So im guessing some airs just getting under it and popping it up and shakin it a little bit.
This never used to happen before at any speeds (up to 130). So whats the deal? It makes me really nervous

I know nothing of pins but wouldnt that make it easy to get into my hood? I guess its already probably pretty simple though.Audacityracing wrote:time for pins homie

I didnt even think of tightening down stuff.lanos2001 wrote:is it only coming up at the front or in the rear of the hood too? my only suggestion would be to tighten all the bolts that you see for the hood.

get the locking ones like i did!
(i just thought of that)
they are virtually pick-proof
http://www.mmrusa.com/hoodpins.htm
there is a set
you can find a set by "Mr. Gasket" but it doesn't have the carbon fiber panel, just stainless steel. the price for those is around 25 bucks
do it.... come on.... do it kinky.... make it a race car....

ok i got a different view for this issue... if the latch is firmly tight and the hood itself is vibrating then wouldn't this indicate that the hood's frame got separated from its body??
i know this might not be clear so i will try to explain more... you all know that the hood is a big metal sheet and to support it their is a metal frame on the inside glued to the big metal sheet to add ridgidity to it and prevent it from deforming.
if the glue got craked then the frame is separated from the hood's body and gives it space to wobble even if it is firmly closed simply because the latch is holding the frame but the hood itself is not properly attached to it.
i'd recommend checking all your glue points at the hood's frame before going at high speeds with the car... in a worst case cenario you might strip the metal sheet off the frame and it could either damage your windscreen or even come totally off the car and land elswere causing sever damage to people's prperty or even kill someone.
this might be too much exaggeratingbut it is better to be safe than sorry.
