Re: opel suspension question
It should... because mk2 and lanos share the same suspension/drivetrain. So I would imagine that the strut tower bar would fit easily. Because, isn't the engine bay exactly identical as well?Audacityracing wrote:does the astra mk 2 have the same strut tower design as the lanos?

can't really tell... both cars are supposed to be sharing the same suspension and chassis but if the OPEL is just 1mm wider on the front then the brace will be to big for your lanos and it goes the other way round too.
unless you are sure you can mod the brace if it slightly off... make very procice measurments before spending your money.
my 2 cents.

I'm pretty sure that OMP bars are adjustable, right?mmamdouh wrote:can't really tell... both cars are supposed to be sharing the same suspension and chassis but if the OPEL is just 1mm wider on the front then the brace will be to big for your lanos and it goes the other way round too.

The thing that should be verifed is the distance between the strut towers. We have a Mk3 Astra GSi which takes the same struts and strut mounts from the Mk2 Astra, BUT the strut towers are further apart. If someone can measure center to center of the Lanos, I can get my brother to check our Mk2 Astra GTE.

You should be able to fabricate one pretty easy with all the tools you have at your disposal... it's just medium wall steel tubing or aluminum bar stock.
I have an Opel OMP strut bar that should fit my Optra.... but it doesn't... I have to relocate the power steering pump resevoir and turn it into a fully adjustable model (since it was not adjustable )
I'm really tempted to simply remove the end cups that go on the strut tower and bend my own bar.
The cups are the hard part.... they are a stamped piece.... if Tom and I could find a reasonably priced method of producing them I'm sure one of us would have started producing them allready.
I can use my lathe to cut a perfect cup out of tubing..... but that would be very costly and time consuming..... stamped parts are certainly the most economical at this point.
