hood spacers

Post by Audacity Racing »

has anyone done the hood spacer mod? (the one where you put washers on the hinge so that it sits higher and the hot air will exit)

has anyone done this? does anyone know where the spacers/washers go? anyone know the right size?

well i haven't done it yet but its the screws on the corners of the hood where the hinges are. there will be two on each side. i just haven't had the time to find out the thread of the bolt and length yet but seems simple enough. just like a bolt 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer than OEM and washers will work but i'd rather try to find like a metal spacer off of like a patio set or something. hope this helps

my bad dude i forgot there were two screws on the bottom too. i've just been taking off the hood like five times a week. now that i think about it i guess you could go both ways but i think the hood screws would just be more logical. i'm not sure why i think that, but i do.

i was thinking on my lunch that putting them on the bottom would be best now. i figure if you put the spacer on the top part there might be clearance issues when you close the hood. not sure but a possibility. either way it shouldn't be too hard too find out with the spacers on there and its not a time consuming task to fix it if one way doesn't work.

Hmmm... -The car looks more aggressive
-It does the job of a reversed scope (let the hot air out of the engine bay)

so did you put the spacer on the bottom part of the hinge or the top?

What is the results of this mod?
it lets air escape faster so the heat doesn't get trapped in the engine bay. basically the air goes through the grille and goes straight out the back.
