I WANA MOD MY LANOS, HELP NEEDED PEOPLE, PICS INCLUDED

Post by UK_REZ_ESSEXRACERS.COM »

hi there people, i have a lanos 1.4 8v 2000, uk spec, anyway, i want to do some mods to it, i have done a decent boot build (as seen in the audio section)

its the most standard model, i was going to add the standard lowered fogs, but i saw some others that i really like the look of, who makes these, what are they called, where can i get some.

Image

i also saw a kit on ebay going cheap, its the front and rear spliter (2 piece each) and skirts, and i like it, cause its suttle.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=36475

now, about rims, i know the offest and fitment details, but i was wondering weather or not 17s are easy to fit, i know 15s fit easy, but i can get 17s for similar money, and theres a huge choice in 17s compared to 15s, so, does it require lots of work, ie arch rolling? and anything else

suspension, what springs/suspension is good, and where to get it from? i have been told 40mm on springs, anything more, and you should get a full suspension set up. what can you recommend?

finally, i also want a spoiler, i have seen only a few, theres the lower boot spoiler, whats it called, and cost, and where from. i have also seen one on a rally lanos which is on the larger size upper spoiler, any ideas where to get that from, please let me know, my car is in the "racing green" colour, i was tempted with some graphics because i have some nasty dents/scratchs on the rear sides of the car, and would cost loads to get repaired, and if im guna spend that money, i would get a full repsray.

i know exactly what to do with the inside, the front and rear door cards come off easily, and i can get them retrimed easily, and i can get some nice bucket seats on the cheap, so, the whole car would be sorted, please let me know what you think, and advice on any of these would be great!

love the site, love the forum, please help me out, thanks, rez (uk)

I believe those fog lights are made by Orciari, an Italian company, the company has a website http://www.orciari.it, but I don't think you can purchase stuff directly from the website. A lot of their stuff has been showing up on Ebay lately, and none of it is horribly expensive, it should probably be easier for you to aquire since you are in the UK. Orciari also makes a "subtle" kit and a spoiler for the Lanos, as well as eyebrows and mesh grills. Also, another website that has kits and spoilers and some other goodies is http://www.hve.com.au/daewoo/lanos.htm they seem to have a large amount of products, but they are in Australia and shipping would probably rape you. Eibach apparently makes Lanos springs, but I haven't heard of anyone trying to put them on, they can be found on http://www.nopi.com I don't know the exact lowering height, but I'm guessing 1-1.5 inches. 17's will most likely fit on a Lanos, cause I have seen a few with them, without any mods, but some of the other members will have to answer that, because I have never been that attracted to aftermarket rims. I guess you could get graphics, but remember, RICE IS BAD, if I were you I would go for the respray if it didn't cost an arm and a leg. I like to call my Lanos' dents and scratches "Battle Wounds" and I believe they give my car character, but hey man, to each his own.

I hope any of this helped you, and remember, that search button comes in pretty handy as we have discussed most of these topics before.

Enjoy yourself, and be tasteful in your mods! :D

I ALSO HAVE AN 1.4 8V 2000 LANOS BUT I SOMETIMES THINK THAT IS THE
SLOWEST CAR IN THE WORLD WITH 75hp AND TOP SPEED 160km/h
MEENS THAT OR MY CAR HAS A PROBLEM (I AM A RECENT OWNER) OR
THESE MODELS ARE VERY SLOW.
MY CAR HAS 25000km AND I HAVE DONE ALL THE SERVICES.

Well To be honest, I drive a 2002 Lanos, just under 83000 young KM on her, Dealer Maintained, mostly before I got it, and reg since (74000 when i bought ) I find the cars are great little cars but if your looking for speed, better get rid of the engine lol, I have the 1.5L engine, my top is 180 and it takes FOREVER to get there, For you I sudjest, runa few tanks of High Grade gas, a fuel line cleaner, K&N airfilter, maybe a ground wiring kit and see how you like it, the car is what it is, a weak cheap car, but its a great reliable car, I love it, regardless of the speed, (pickup is great tho)

I drive it to be different not to beat people, although it would be nice

Engine as stated is 1.5L 4cyl, ( cdn version :p)

I believe its around 180kph is about 120 MPH, im not near the car and just got home so ill update if im horribly wrong lol

Ground wiring kit, Theres a post somewhere on here about it, I havent done it myself but my friends Accent 5spd has much better pickup outta 3rd and 4th where it was sluggish, he says wonders about it as do some others, doesnt neccessarily help top speed just helps response especially for 5spd, from what i hear, someone tell me if i am wrong

well, i actully enjoy my car, its a uk spec and on the books its 1.4 8v, not 1.5, and it aint to bad for me, i can race things like 1.2 16v corsas, and others motors, but i really push the limits of my car on roundabouts, which means that similar motors dont have a chance.

but, its not the quickest thing, mine has got 68,000 miles on it, with services once a year, but it makes a really weird noise, im guna video it, see if anyone knows whats up with it. im tempted to get the pipercross induction kit, so it sounds nice, and possibly a full exhaust system, but theres not much more i can do for perfomance, unless i do an engine change, and theres a few choices out there, but for all that money, id rather buy a new car, something thats faster as standard, i do love my woo, but its not guna last forever, and im not guna buy another, cause this one was given to me.

i may just get a set of rims, and induction kit for now, so i can take it all off and return it to standard when i trade it in, i will post my video asap, cheers for all your replies, keep them coming, thanks, rez

Hi UK_REZ:

If you're into the performance side of things... you might consider dropping a C20XE or maybe a C20LET engine from Vauxhall... the Lanos chasis is based on the MK2 Astra GTE... so its a straight swap... the same thing applys to the suspension components...

I think Stefan lives in essex...

Stefan, arent you in essex?

Vauxhall LOL, If i was not a part of this forum i never would have found out that company exsisted, But do you know of any northamerican cars that and engine swap would be fairly easy? i mean a GM car perhaps, (aveo?) or does Vauxhall have rebadged cars that would be availible over here?

thanks alot

hi there, i have been playing with the idea of an engine swap, and my mate works for vauxhall, so it may only be a matter of time before a car comes in for a trade in, or damaged that i could nick the engine from...anyway

vauxhall also sell in the european market as OPEL, and it may be what you in the US see and hear. im tempted to get a bigger engine, but i would want another everyday car to drive around in, because i would strip mine out, and go for a rally look, and keep the weight down,

check this for a 2.0 Turbo with nos, its in an astra, the one that the lanos is based on, so it should fit... wow, i know that would be fast

its a 2.0 turbo in the an astra GSI, ( usually 1.8 ) and we did a few mesaurements, and it will fit. this perticular model is fitted with nos, and 18in rims, and its well fast, im sure this would fit in the daewoo lanos with a bit of work. and it would be the fastest lanos going...

No, in the USA we don't have neither Vauxhall nor Opel. It would be cool if we did though. I'd buy an engine then...
