Lug Nuts Question (HELP!!!!!)

Post by AcingTeam »

Okay, here's my question... Do our cars (Daewoo Lanos) use lug nuts or lug bolts (that screws in)? I think the dimentions are 12mm x 1.5mm and 1 inch in height... is that correct?

Also, here's my story... I bought the car about 4 months ago (as you probably know), and now it's time to change the tires... hehe here comes the funny part (well it's not that funny or it shouldn't be). I went to a shop to get my tires replaced and guess what... they can't take the wheels off because of the custom security lug bolts (all 16 of them)!!!! And I bought the car with them and the key never came with the car! They tried every single tool they had, and they just couldn't do it. Do you guys have any suggestions on how or where I can get the wheels off????
That explains the reason I'm asking about lug nuts (bolts).

if they have some sort of shape on the outside of the lug BOLT, then the gator grip socket will work for sure...if the outside is completely round, then you are in trouble...in that case, take it to a mazda dealership or lexus or some dealership where the car comes with factory security lugs, like i know the same thing happen to my cousin's mazda millenia and the dealer took them off easily...or just go to several tires places, one of them will be willing to tak them off, they just use a similar size and force it out with the air gun.and yeah...they are 12X1.5 and they are lug bolts like mercedes and BMW and VW

Cool, thanks a lot... I'll try some dealerships then. The guy at that auto shop told me that he'll be able to do it in 1 whole day... during breaks between customers... so that might be an option too.
Just have one more question:

I know some of these lug bolts come in different height... like 12 x 1.5 (1 inch) or (1.1 inch) or (1.5 inch) or (1.75 inch). Does it matter what height it is? I'm assuming that's the height of the bolt pattern (not the whole bolt).

Thanks

You can also convert them to lug nuts..... there are companies which will sell you studs that you can get loctited into place..... then you will attach the wheels with what ever lug bolts you want.
