The whole point of heating up is to reach the melting point of the gooey stuff NOT the plastic surroundings. Gooey stuff melts at way lower temperature than the hard plastic. So the lower the temperature, the better. Lower the temp and try again (15 mins in the oven). Also, I did use the screwdriver to open the headlights, worked great.
will try again tomorrow, in any case if the worst comes to the worst, I'll have to buy a new headlamp. Will try to cook it more slowly. Tnx for the info
well even with a knife it'll take forever and a day b/c its just a bitch. the way the headlight is together is first with clips that you can break easily and then even with a knife it won't cut into the actual glue all the way. the way it sits is like the shape of two " L's " sitting on top of each other. just trust us the best and easiest way so you can glue it back is to heat it. i tried the first way with a very slim screw driver and actually broke one clip.
well that really sux. did you take out all the screws? i think there was like two screws that i didn't notice until i was trying to take it apart after heating it up.
yea i did remove the screws, probably the 1st attempt had already badlydamaged the headlight more than I had imagined. Ordered new black ones from Tom, no more hassle!
