Headlights what the...?

Post by KnightWalace »

Whats the difference between all the classifications of lightbulbs?

I mean 6000k 8000k 4000k
then theres H1, H2, H3, H4, 9004,9006,
what the heck do those things exactly designate?

I've never really looked into all the bulb designators, but I know the 9004, 9005, 9006 & 9007 are bulb style numbers.

The Lanos uses a 9007, the Leganza uses both 9005 & 9006 for the seperate high & low beam bulbs.

H1, H2, H3 & H4 are the different types of high output halogen bulbs.

Google or parts web pages should help with information, too.

ok, the lower the K like for example 3000k...the more yellowish the tint....from about 4400k to about 6500k you have a bright white...anything over 6500k upto about 9500k you have blue tint....anything above that and the light has a purplish tint.....Brightest is around 5000k mark (what comes stock on most BMW and Benz---i believe it is 4600k to be exact) but a lot of those aftermarket that have that strong purple or bluish tint are high k or higher temp as they are known...but don't light up as much as the 5000k range....
