Just a quick question, could me car have power steering and it just not be working??
I picked it up on Monday and have since been doing hours of reading about various bits and pieces.
Anyways, i found a site that said that they came standard with power steering.
So my question is, should my car have it?? And if it does, what do I look for under the bonnet (can't right now though, wife has taken the car to uni).
Thanks in advance
Did all 96 Cielo GLs in Australia come with power steering??

basicly a power steering system have a pump, reservoir, piping and extra part on the steering rack.
look for the pump at the front of the engine... check the alternator belt if it runs on three pullys (crank, alternator and P/S pump).
look for a P/S fluid reservoir... i am not sure where it is located on that particular car but you can recognize the fluid because it is red.
look on your steering rack... if it got a bunch of metal pipes going in it at the point where the steering colom meets the rack then you got P/S.
you should notice a difference in the resistance of the steering wheel in relation to the engine... if the engine is off then you have to do more effort to turn the wheel.
if you have P/S and it is completly dead (or if you want to turnthe wheel of a P/S equippted car with the engine off) then you have to be Arnold Schwarzenegger or so to do the job 'cause it is to damn heavy
