question for lanos owners with body kits
okay i need to ask people with the lanos hatchback with a full body kit a question. i don't feel like goin through all the members list.
i've had a problem with my back bumper since i've had my body kit. i have it on there of course but not completely. on the original back bumper there were two screws that held the bumper up right at the wheel well. well on the body kit there was no place to screw them in at and i know if i tried it would go straight through the bumper. basically how can i fix this with out molding? i tried to put fiberglass on the inside to hold it up but after a few days it would always break off and my bumper would be flapping in the wind. kinda embarrassing when someone rides by me. someone help please.

Hey nick, I think can help you out here I think
Remember your front bumper install? It has the same setup the the screwws up insisde the wheel well. or atleast your stock one did, if you have a big enough lip on your bumper and a big enough lip on the inner fender area, drill a small hole through the bumper use a screw and washer and get some of those license plate like screw holders, or those white caps that are used in the front end, install those in the correct places and gently screw your body kit up, carefully raising it,
hope this helps, if i am completely wrong and you are talking about another place send pics, ill give you my sudjestions

i've tried to put a screw in the lip part right at the edge of the wheel well but the way my back bumper is i only have like literally an inch and a half of room or less to put it in . like think of the bumper it self. right at where it points to the wheel well it would look like this symbol > so i can't get a screw in there since there is no room. and where there is enough room there is no more of a lip. i'll try to take pics with my camera phone tonight and pm them to you so you can see what i'm talking about. and thanks for your reply

okay here are a couple of close ups of the area i'm talking about. i couldn't find a flashlight small enough to show the area i wanted to but you should get the idea. i think i'm gonna try to take the part where the screw screws into the bumper to keep it up off the oem bumper and see if i can put it on this bumper. any ones ideas will be welcome.

okay this one just shows the gap on how it sits normally
this one shows the hole, in the same area, where the screw that holds the bumper up is supposed to be. i pulled on the bumper so you could see the whole.

IDK, maybe get a big ass screw, go through the bumper into the body, countersink it, Bondo it up so it is nice and smooth, and get that area resprayed. However, this is a kind of permanent solution, and potentially dangerous and pricey.
Did you install the kit yourself or at a Body Shop? Usually they use stainless screws to hold on a kit that is being troublesome.

i put it all on myself. i would just do a permanent deal if it wouldn't mean that i would have to re-paint it. b/c the people that painted it i don't want them to touch my car again and they made it an off maroon from the factory color so if i re-did the back bumper i would have to do the whole car all over again. i start an auto-body class tuesday i'll just ask my new teacher once i get in there what the best solution will be.

Oh i remember the part you are talking about now, pictures are worth a thousand words
easy solution, take the beaket off the stock bumper and attach it inside the new rear, with a few screws through the top, ensure that it lines up so you can bolt through the fender into the braket from the factory bumper, thats what i had planned on doing to mine if i had kept it
