opinions on Custom Grille for silver lanos

Post by DavesDaewoo »

Hey everyone, Im stuck, i need an idea of what to do with my grille, I know im meshing it with a small holed mesh, but

because the car is silver, its hard to decide

a) should I paint the meshing, a black or maybe blue?
b) should i paint the chrome trim black and have chrome meshing instead
c) have chrome trim and meshing,
D) any other ideas

your info would be great
thanks

chrome trim, mesh black. If you do the mesh chrome it would be kind of too much silver. Need a little break up in color.

Too much silver??? How can that possibly be?!?

LOL

I am trying to silver out my whole car!

I just changed the orange rear tail lights to the silver mirror colored bulbs that only light up orange. When they are off, they are totally mirror silver. I'll post pics this week.

The car is getting silver mirror window tint and silver wheels, too.

:)

Silver is great!!

A silver mesh will hide all the ugly stuff you can see through the opening. Also make sure to paint the toungue black, because that will hide it good.

Yep that's what I did. Use a flat black, not glossy.

This is the best shot I have of mine at the moment:

I've got a really nice grille idea floating around in my head, but won't divulge the secret until I have completed it. :)
In my mind, it will look very nice, but we all know how things can change from idea to reality. That's why I'm not going to mention what it is.

Now I just need a spare grille to do the mod.

I have a silver alons as well and I think I am either going to go with silver or blue depending on which might look a little cooler because the entire interior is going to be silver and blue.

I changed out my grill on my lanos to mesh and I painted it 4 different colors. I drive a white lanos, so at first I figured a high gloss black would look good, but then it just looked like I had a hole in the front of my hood. Then I decided that since I have the chrome border around it, I would paint it chrome. That didn't work either, it was just horrible looking, I'm not sure if its the type of mesh I used or what. So I bought some metallic pewter paint because thats what I had used to paint the grill work on my black CRX, that didnt fit either. Finally I decided to paint the mesh white, and it looks great now. Will post pics of my custom grill in a few mins.

One thing I did notice after I'd painted it for the last time was that the center mesh is actually in backwards so the angles in the mesh dont match up all the way across.

If i had a lanos, no matter the color, ill just paint the chrome part to match the car's color and paint the grille black.

i like the desing on daewooluvr's grille.
