Custom slotted OEM rotors

Post by MMamdouh »

just the other day i found a machine shop that slots rotors, it sounds like a good i dea to have the OEM rotors on my car slotted but i got to ask if this is wise to do or not.

i already asked a similar question concerning custom cross drilling my rotors and you guys recommended against doing this because the rotors might break undel load because of drilling them... are those concerns present in the case of slotting as well??

from my knowledge I wouldn't do it to regular oem rotors. The reason for this is because if you are going to cut metal that has already been cast it will weaken it a great deal, but if the metal ismolded that way then it is a lot more resistant to breaking and or snapping. So my suggestion would be to not have it done to your OEM rotors and just buy a new set of slotted ones.

I is safer and better than drilling. But use good quality rotors for that. Pretty much every slotted rotor on the market is CNC machined aftermarket rotor.
