CV Joint

Post by Aneab »

Wasnt sure if this was the place to put it, but I have a question.

How hard are CV Joint replacements? I've noticed when taking left turns and accelerating out of the turn, my cv joint makes a nice knocking noise, it's the same noise I found in my friend's Dad's Civic when his CV joint died... so i was wondering how hard it would be to replace... doesnt sound too hard but i could be wrong...

i never did that job before myself but i don't think it is that hard as long as you got the right tools and enough mechanical knowledge to do it.

yeah it's pretty easy to replace the whole axle, plus it's not as messy.

Axel / Cv Joint..Replacement..

Post by lanowoo »

* Its better to just replace the whole axle:
well:
-take and jack up car and take off wheel, brake assembly, rotorassembly (take out ball joint if neccesary) and end of axle bolt..
-get a good grip on the axle and pop it right out...
- put grease (wheel bearing grease) on the axel and the socket.. and take a big rubber mallot or something heavy but not damaging like (a metal hammer).make sure you have the teeth aligned proberly in the axell.
-push the axel in and then tap the axel in its place.. voila.. and then do step one in reverse.. and you are finished...:)
