NOISES IN REVERSE.. IS THIS NORMAL

1.6 DOHC 5-SPD 2001 DAEWOO LANOS HB-S i have owned 1 other manual transmission vehicle in my life and it did not make a humming noise whenever i put it in reverse and travel backwards.. i just wondering if it is normal...if it isn't then what... change SAE-80 man. tranny fluid..or flush.

mine always made a whiny/humming noise everytime i went in reverse. but you really hear it when you go kind of fast in reverse.

the reverse gear is a straight cut gear, so it makes tons of noise as it meshes

THANKS, I AM JUST MAKING SURE , BECAUSE I PUSHED A DERN NISSAN SENTRA OUT OF MY WAY when i got out of a parking spot at a local store. I was going to a store with my fater, which has a broken back, and i parked in a handicap spot, put the tag on my rearview mirror and helped my dad inside, well when i came out., my car had a visitor at its rear bumper, a silver nissan sentra, it had nice body kit and everything, the sad part, it had no handicap tag, and i was blocked, so i started my baby up and shifted in to reverse and pulled backwards untill i lightly felt it,s bumper, and see if i could move it, well i could, very slowly, at about 3700rpm, well i didnt feel like taking forever, so i put in the clutch a little and pressed on the gas, it moved no diffrent than like i was just backing up, except at 5100rpms, i moved up alittle and changed spots so where i could push it where i wanted it. i pushed that sob. so far up in the parking lot, that person would have to actually look for his car. but only thing, you could see the marks from when i first squealed the tires backward on my first attempt, then you would see where the tire marks from the other cars tires from when it scooted unvoluntarily from its wheels, and that was when the sterring wheel locked. , that is the only thing that makes me mad..i think. anyway thanks guys.

not as much as i really wanted too, i wanted to push his car into another, but that would be awful.....even if he deserved it.... his front was dented in alittle when i burned tires backwards, but there was no redish maroon paint on his front (thank god) even though i am going to get new bumpers on my woo soon (lanos is the best im myopinon for looks and performance) anyways it looked awful though when you loked at the r side skirt bc i pushed it some front, all the way to the end of the passenger side door, you could tell i was there. I should get a metal daewoo symbol metal weilded on a metal plate inside my front and back bumpers so if someone does that again, there would be embossed holes that display in the other cars body that states: "proud to be put there and never, to be messed with...xoxoxo, a Daewoo" now that would be kool bc a lot of cars (hondas would have that symbol on their bumpers.) or we should be issuing out stickers to the losers of daewoo races. the car owner would have a sticker on their rear windshield that had a daewoo emblem, that meant they were beaten by a daewoo. Can you believe i had only 2 3" scratches and a silverlil mark on my daewoo ( i am using paint to touch up th e marks and silver paint scrapes.
