Leganza Brakes....

Post by Woo mass'a »

Does my 2000 Leganza have front and rear disc brakes? I DO NOT have ABS. I also have COMPLETELY destroyed rotors.

Will there be ANY benefit with drilled/ slotted rotors? Can I just buy the cheap ones from EBAY? And, if I get a cooler rotor, should I stay away from certain type pads?

Now with that being asked... If I get rotors and pads... is there ANYTHING else that a brake shop would need to do a brake job? Because there isn't ONE place in my town that has even the pads for a daewoo. So I need to bring all the stuff with me.

Thank ya.

You can go for the drilled/slotted rotors, but they will eat up pads quicker. You might want to go with EBC pads or Carbon fibre pads.

As for nobody having the brake pads, that is very strange. I have about 5 options to choose from at the local Autozone/Advance Auto Parts/Pepboys.

There is nothing else necessary for a brake job except Rotors/Pads.

This is the first ive heard of disk with drum handbrake. Can you, or anyone, explain this. It feels like my handbrake need to be adjusted anyhow. You have to pull up wayyyy to hard to get it to engage properly.

its practically a standard issue drum brake with an extra disc on the outside and a caliper to operate on it.

i have no idea about the brake calibration on that particular setup but it is going to be one of 2 things:

1- a port or more at the back of the drum assembly where you can insert a flat end screw driver and adjust the gear that extends the axel pushing the pads.

2- you got to remove the caliper bracket and caliper, remove the drum to access the adjustment gear like a standard issue rear brake drum assembly.

the first setup seems much easyer and i with this is the case with your leganzas as the second option is a pain in the @$$.
