OK here is the deal i just got the car back on the ground after 7.5 hours of work. clutch is aligned properly when going to the pedal to bleed and start the pedal doesn't hit the floor. after bleeding and adjust it'll go to the floor and the neutral switch is in , engine starts , will not go into gear, and yes the t/o bearing is in. when looking at the slave cylinder it looks like it works well. is it possible when taking the t/o bearing out when loosening the bolt on the fork, is it possible that the shaft could rotate and without taking it out of the tranny and when putting the new bearing in would it return to its original position on its own if not what degree should the plate that comes in contact with the slave cylinder be 90 degrees? should it be parellel with the t/o bearing? thanks for all the help i need a reply kind of quick no time for down time, busy man here in ohio

i found the problem. after setting the t/o bearing the shaft does rite itself and return to it's proper position.
my problem was as i bolted the pressure plate to the flywheel the finger springs where compressing, therefor engaging the clutch, the movement
was so insignificant that i couldn't see it happening. it took another person watching the alignment tool to see it. either a faulty pressure plate or improperly matched. so there is a lookout for anyone who may run into a problem when installing a new clutch and nothing seen to work.

thats what its surpose to do. whan you bolt it down it does engages the clutch. when you release the clutch, the t/o bearing does not ride the pressure plate. when you step on the clutch, the t/o bearing pushes the pressure plate fingers futher in, which disengages the clutch. make sure you bleed the clutch too not just the brakes if you did any brake fluid change.
situation, installing new clutch in Lonas. After installing disc and pressure plate and aligning the bellhousing, notice the fork lever has no pressure. I must assume that the throw bearing is not matching up to the finger of the pressure plate. My question, has anyone had such a problem with replacement pressure plates or throw out bearings. After speak with Luk Clutch, just one of 2 mfgrs, they said the parts are right but, without seeing the application, they admit that the throwout bearing and fork lever should be in the proper position if installed right. This is the second mfgr, I've used and the results the same, after installation the shifting fork is at it's max. throw and bottom out at the bellhousing casing. Unfortunately, for me the old assembly was thrown out before new clutch was installed, so I can't use the old pressure plate

I had the exact same situation, where the car wouldnt go into gear and the clutch pedal had a different feel and it wouldnt depress all the way to the floor.
Turned out that the fork had snapped and i replaced the fork, no problems...
about fed up with my lanos. three different clutches still not functioning properly press the pedal no travel.
does anyone think when fastening the pressure plate to the flywheel, that it could be torqued down to much that would prevent it to release when hitting the pedal. watching the slave cylinder there isn't any movement. and when the tranny is bolted to theblock the slave cylinder is extended there for the bearing is against the pressure plate with nowhere to go. shouldn't the slave be compressed when the tranny is bolted to the enigine block? i'm at a complete stalemate rite now.

yes the slave should compress but i'm not getting enough on it the fork isn't broken alittle wear.
does any one know, how much wear on the fork is needed to blow the throw all out of whack?
second is it possible to torque down the pressure plate to much to the point where it might affect the throw. i don't have a torque wrench that allows me to go down to 11ft.-lbs. my wrench only goes as low as 50ft-lbs.

HAHAHAHA IT'S DONE. i finally got to where i need to be after hours upon hours in the garage under the heart of my lanos. i bought 5 different clutch kits including an oem still no progress. i bought a new release fork no throw.still rackin the brain. hmmmmmm shim the pressure plate, sounds like something carol shelby would do. but it worked shimming the oem plate gave me enough to shift, 1/16" grade 8 stainless washers on all six bolt points we tried doubling the washers, but there wasn't enough pressure it started to slip. so if anyone has the problem that i did, shim it
i would like to thank all of you that had given me help in this matter
