How easy is it to do on a 2000 lanos and are there any special tools required to do this job?

you need some big allen wrenches... but that's all (12mm i think)
you take the lugs off
take the caliper apart (pads out and then off the car)
take retaining screw out of rotor
and there ya go

so is it actually difficult to remove the rotor and the put the new one back on? and it is only one retaining screw that holds on the rotors?

now this one screw isn't hidden behind something so I can't get to it correct? and the caliper disassembly is fairly idiot proof correct?
I hope it doesn't rain on saturday so I can knock this out.

the caliper disassembly is easy...
and yes, the screw is in plain sight... can't miss it!
hey delphis, check out the general post section for a manual for the lanos. that will tell you everything you ever wanted to know

Just be careful when you are taking apart the caliper that you don't allow all of your brake fluid drain out.
It will give you really strange brake feel... or lack thereof.
Also be careful that none of it gets on your hands or paint. It could get ugly.
