what is the other socket at the back of the engine?
where is the reverse light trigger?
why does the CEL is triggered when the socket at the back is removed? (the CEL comes on if you remove the speedometer socket a well)
i got confirmation from my mechanic that i am correct... the socket near the starter motor is for the speed sensor and the one near the clutch piston is for the reverse light.
now the pic posted here is too close to show its location in respect to the clutch bell housing... both sockets are close to the shift stick mechanism as well so the mechanism will show in a pic for any of the two sensors.
the reverse light socket got no bolt to hold it and i think it is the drive shaft end in the top middle of the pic... this could be a pic for the speed sensore indeed.
the one in the pic got 3 wires indeed... this is an authentic pic of the VSS... thanks john_trickle for the pic and thanks gianfranco for clearing that out.
I just bought a Lanos yesterday and am having the same trouble with the speedo. I know nothing about Daewoos yet and don't have any repair manuals yet. Could somebody please take a picture from above of the whole engine compartment and draw a little arrow pointing to the general location I should be looking down for the speed sensor. The pictures I've seen so far are close ups and don't help me since I'm brand new to the Lanos. Thanks a lot.
