Tyre thread

Post by koh »

Hi,

How to check whether the tyre thread is within the legal limit and not bald ?

Thanks.

Different countries may have different limits but in the UK the minimum tread depth is 1.6mm across the central 75% of the tyre. Although to be on the safe side I would recommend changing at no lower than 2mm.

+1

also tires comne with warning blocks which are a little blocks that are imbeded to the lowest point in the tread... if those come level to the tire tread then you are running on an almost bald tire and got to replace it.

also if your tire is over 40,000 kms old then you got to replace it... it might look good on the outside but the internal materials are worn out and the tire might explode under high load (high speed, heat, load or all of them).
