D20 Revoval / Refitting

Post by jayw »

2000 Nubira CDX (phase 1), C20SED & D20 M/T. UK spec.

Hi all, after my gearbox attempting to eat itself alive i've found a donor car with a limp con-rod for the modest sum of ?100 GBP.

Just need to know if theres anything special to watch out for when changing the gearbox, i've heard that i'll need to drop the sub-frame to get the gearbox out or take engine/box together... anyone confirm or deny these???

Is there anything that tends to break or thread, or just not want to go back in?

I'm no stranger to my garage so i'll manage, just better to be prepared!

No doubt i'll get practice taking the donor apart!

Thanks all, and guess i'll be a regular here now

I haven't had any experience in removing a D20 yet.

I will probably remove the engine and gearbox together.

The F20 from the Vauxhall's are nearly identical except for the fact that the D20 is actuated via hydraulics and the F20 is actuated via cable so you could probably check around on Migweb for info on tips for removal of the F20.

It's too bad your in the UK.... I'd love to get my hands on a D20 so that I can take it apart and get some experience.
