Brakes Broke

Post by daewooluvr »

Well I lost my brakes last Friday while getting off the highway and almost plowed into the back of a tractor trailer.

I found that the one brake pad completely broke apart and came out and the others fell apart when I removed them.

These were the EBC Green Stuff pads. I really expected more from these as they were close to $80.

Has anyone else had issues with them like this?

i had the green stuff... worked very nice... but i guess my driving style required the red stuff as i managed to put too much heat into those pads and experienced some fade

for how many miles did you use those pads??... what you are describing is either down to negligence in maintenance and periodic checkup (which i highly doubt since it is you Shaun that is reporting the issue) or the pads are too soft for your driving style and they got consumed fast (in comparison to other pads that you have used)... or maybe you became too much abusive with the brakes lately and the pads paid the toll... and again i am not really convinced with this interpretation

most probably those green stuff are too soft for us but this will be confirmed by how many miles you did put on the pads... if i am right and those pads were consumed too early (comparatively speaking) then in my opinion we should be using red stuff as apparently the greens are too soft to live long enough and withstand the amount of heat generated by spirited driving

Unsure of the number of miles on them. I just inspected them before my vehicle inspection in June and they looked fine. They still had alot of meat left on the pads. They just became very brittle and broke apart.
