Hi guys,
I have a 2002 Lanos automatic that was fine until I went to put it into drive tonight. Won't shift out of park.
Any ideas?

Re: Help! Lanos won't shift from park....
Sounds like your brake light switch is not working.
The brake light switch has to be activated in order to allow the shifter to be moved out of park.
This is a safety feature so that the car can not accidentally be shifted out of park and into drive, such as if a dog or child is in the car and you leave the engine running while you run into the store.
Until you can verify it is or is not the brake light switch, there is a slot next to the shifter where something flat & thin, such as a key, can be inserted to bypass that shift lock.
