The Lanos CV axles do not fit my Lanos? Why is this?

Post by xXRachaelFaceXx »

I have a 2001 Lanos with bad CV axles. I went to Advanced Auto and bought the best brand name axles they had that matched my car and when I tried to put them in they wouldn't fit! We ripped it all apart, searched all over the internet and went back to the store but no one could tell me what was up! My car is all stock so it shouldn't have a new tranny but it looks like the Nubira tranny was put in my Lanos with the Lanos engine. Is that possible? And what do I do now? Will I always have trouble with finding parts that fit?

do the splines match up?

it could just be you're not trying hard enough, it takes some force to pop them back in

Does the new half shaft match up with the old half shaft that you took out?

I ran into the issue where the part store gave me the wrong one.

If you look on www.daewoous.com (I think) it lists several half shafts based on VIN.

I have the exact same thing now.
They tried different suppliers but the 'outside' splines are just too big.
And I cannot use Daewoo USA website to order parts, since I am in Canada.

any suggestions ?

Ive been unable to drive my car for three weeks.

I ended up having to order a good used one from a junk yard. Check out ebay. There are some suppliers on there that even list the mileage of the car it came off of.

check vin as well

some lanos' are KLAT and some are KLAS
the KLAS lanos had a different front shock design (more conventional 2 bolt rather than inserts)
