Nubira bleeding problems

Post by Nubira_in_UK »

I recently changed some brake pipes and then started to bleed the system. I started from the master cylinder, throught the ABS block, and then onto the furthest wheel from the fluid reservoir working forward. Things seemed ok with the engine off but when I started the car and pushed the pedal it just went to the floor with no pressure at all. Have i missed something or is the master cylinder knackered?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Hi,
Well, if you have done a "manual" bleeding I hope you didn't have floored brake pedal in the process as MC seals damage can be done with this method.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. The bad news is that i did floor the brake pedal. Does this always mean a knackered cylinder  Anyway i have spent long enough on something that should have taken an hour or so, at least i have learnt something new from talking to you guys, thanks.

This does not always mean a knackered cylinder. But internal seals have travelled to places they never visited before and maybe dislodging some sludge damaging cup seals. You may try a new full purge procedure but I wouldn't trust anymore on such MC unless it is rebuild with new parts. This is quite well described in the service manual.

Hope it helps,
