Here is a picture of a pilot bearing....

The bearing sits inside the hole where the input shaft meets up with the crankshaft and it's primary use is for support of the input shaft.

The three common types are
1) roller bearing
2) needle bearing
3) bronze bushing

I'm pretty sure our engine does not have a pilot bearing..... so I don't think you have to worry about it.
