Chris wants to modify the pivot point to make the short throw even greater!! For example moving the shaft attaching point lower would make it shift quicker.

Ok, since you took the reverse lock out, why dont you use some leds to indicate when you get reverse? I believe it's as easy as lighth the whit the reverse light on the tail.

That's a good idea. My Uncle's Merkur he had back in the day had reverse to the upper left, never even thought about that........

That's a good idea, except it's easy for me to distinguish 1st and reverse gears. Never had a problem, so a light won't be neccessary.

I thought you had an auto... And no, you're not the only one. Consider yourself lucky if you actually can put it into reverse going under 5mph, I personally need to COMPLETELY stop in order to put it in reverse.

u`ll even be locked out of 1st if u r going over 5mph.

i guess its a safty measurement to extend the trany/engine efficiency and durability.

ok... so who cares about downshifting into reverse if you cut the lock-out away? if what i'm thinking is correct, the tranny won't allow you to downshift improperly like that... right???

Right, it'll only grind loudly. But who downshifts into 1st anyways?! I never downshift into 1st.

Since my mecanic will install a oil radiator in my car tomorrow, i will study with him the best way to make a quick shift. I believe the best is like AcingTeam did. Only that i'm going to put a light to reverse, secutity is never enough.

I really didn't think the overall height of the shifter made a difference in throw, I always thought it was only the pivot point that could be adjusted. I mean I guess I can kinda see how it would. Ever since I started reading this thread I've been trying to imagine it, oh well I guess I'll take your word for it.
