Clutch how to?

Post by Turtle_Wax »

Is there a how to section on changing the clutch on a 1.4 Lanos sohc? Mine isn't slipping but I think the pressure plate or bearing may be wearing as the pedal is getting stiff to press. If it's straight forward and no special tools needed I might have a go myself and save on labour costs.

Ok thanks anyway. I've bought the clutch kit and my local mechanic is going to fit it at a good price and also replace the gearbox oil.

The new clutch is now installed and it's 100% better. Compared to how stiff it was before it now feels like I'm pressing fresh air when changing gear. It will take a while to get use to. My mechanic said the old clutch was well worn and friction plate almost down to the rivets so I caught it just in time. He also changed the gearbox oil and that has also made gear selection smoother. It makes a more enjoyable driving experience in heavy stop-go traffic.
