Bad torque steer

Post by Comrade »

Around 45-50 mph when I let go the accelerator it jumps to the right.
It all happens under normal acceleration rate about 2700 RPM.

Got it aligned
Brakes are good
Suspension is OK, 2 different places looked at it. (Some cracked boots on the left sway bar link thats about it)
Tranny is full

I donno what else could be wrong.
99 Nubira 65'000 miles. Auto tranny.

check engine/tranny mounts... a broken mount will cause torque steer.

What would a bad mount look like?
Cracked rubber part of it?

All three mounts are dry and not craked.
My control arm bushings look pretty bad though, but I can't feel any play in them.

yes the mounts' rubber will look deterorated but sometimes it looks OK when the engine is sitting on them but when torque is applied you can clearly see the engine moving arround the engine bay... try to move the car in 1st gear with the ebrakes on and watch how the engine reacts... if it is moving too much or you can see that the mount is not holding the engine and not holding it in place then you need new ones.

bad control arm bushings can hace similar effects... it is a weak part on the nubiras.
