Grinding Noise After A Flat Tire.

Post by m00ncrickit »

I have an '01 Daewoo Lanos Hatchback 1.6... So I'm in Chicago only drivng like 20 MPH just getting on the Dan Ryan, and there is a big ass cut in the street like a quick 4-6 inch drop then rise. I hit pretty hard and my front left tire blows. I pull over, bust out the jack and put on the donut (spare). My front tire, after I get going, starts making a grinding sound pretty loud. So I get home and change one of the back tires to the front and put the donut where the back tire was... Still, I start to drive and the same grinding sound happens. If I rev the engine in neutral it doesn't make any noise so I'm definitely thinking something with the tire/strut/brakes is messed up. Any ideas??? Help!

check the brake dust cover behind the brake caliper. it might've been pushed in somehow making it rub on the disc. so if its that just push it straight by hand. (please make sure the brakes are cool or you have gloves) sorry but i've done something similar myself.

jack the car from under the suspension so that the car weight is compressing the spring and the driving hight is maintaned then spin the wheel with your hand and see where the sound is comming from.

was the car pulling to any side after the impact??

Well I took it to a local car shop, they had to hammer out the wheel a bit but I guess it was rubbing against a backing plate.
