Differential options

Post by Brian5475E »

I need help. I have a 04 chevy aveo with the 5 speed tranny. Is there another differential I can swap in this. The one that is in it is too low geared. I think it's like a 4.18 or something like that. I'm new to daewoos so I really don't know about the trannys and diffs

Well, you can maybe program the ECU, will maybe be a lot less costly than changing it. But you need the tool, and only a gm shop will do have that, try asking them.

What are you talking about. The ECU has nothing to do with the differential. I don't quite understand what you are trying to say

Well, i misread it, but i thougth u wanted to shift/gear faster, and you actually can change your gear ratio in the ecu, and thus, affecting your transmission

Your Aveo will have a D16 tranny which is interchangeable with the F16 tranny found in vehicles like the Pontiac LeMans/Optima and Opel/Vauxhall Astra & Kadette.

You should talk to Chang.... I think he was offering gears for the tranny.

If you do some searching on gear ratios you will find a link showing all the gear ratios of the various D16/F16 transmissions.

As far as aftermarket support Quaife makes several products ranging from gears to limited slip differencials (but they are expensive)

Hopefully this helped... let me know if you need any other info.

I brought the post up to the top.... It's called final gear ratios.

Can you post the gear ratios from your owners manual so we can compare?

I think they are on here somewhere but I don't remember where.
