Im thinking about installation a clutch assembly, pressureplate, and flywheel myself. But first, how hard is it? What all is involved? I've never done this kind of work so im a little hesitent. I probably could have a friend help me thats done it before though which would make me feel much better.
What about an LSD, the quaife to be exact.. whats involved in installing it?
Okay, now sway bars. I know the rear bar is easy but the front sway bar isnt so easy on the forenza. Why is that? Whats involved in installing one?
I was going to have a shop install all this, among lots of other stuff.. but so far the labors up to 75 hours so I need to cut it back and learn to do some of this stuff myself.

Well, its doable in one day with a good helper, proper set of tools, and ideally with access to a hoist and air tools... I did sent you a hardcopy of the repair manual with the parts for reference.
As far as LSD install goes, myself I would leave it to pros. Improper install (which will kill the geabox) with papers will void any warranty repairs/replacement.
As far as sway bars go, I hope Chris jumps into this thread and explains. I have seen him do that, but what seems to be easy, well....he did curse a lot I am guessing the best time to install the front sway bar is when the gearbox is out for the clutch replacement.
We can all always walk you through the most horrible

Well im going to do the clutch myself with my gf (who knows nothing about cars) unless I can get a freind to help.
Yeah, i'll leave the lsd to the shop, along with the sway bars cuz its cheap to have em do that and the front bar from what i've heard isnt fun to do.

I have just finished changing the clutch in my Cielo and I can tell you it is a pain in the ass! Not so difficult, just requires alot of time if you dont know exactly what your doing. As far as tools go: Good metric socket and spanner set, ball joint and tie rod remover tools, a hoist would be great - otherwise at least one trolley jack, axle stands, you may have to get ahold of or make yourself a clutch aligning tool. I'm sure there are tools other than basic hammers etc that I haven't listed.
Personally I don't think its doable in a day unless you have airtools, a hoist and a friend whos changed a clutch before. If you can spare a few days and are willing to get extra tools etc than by all means do it yourself and you will save money.

the clutch replacment itself is easy... removing the tranny is a bitch... reinstalling the tranny is even worse so practically the preparation for the actual job and wraping it up is harder than the job itself.

I've seen it done once or twice on tuner shows on speed channel which I think will help alot. My biggest problem when doing a new installation is being too carful and taking too much time, since ive seen it done I will know the basics
