What is this?

Post by JohnnyC »

I found this thing in my engine that obviously isn't quite right. Can someone identify what it's called so I can look it up and find out what i need to do to fix it. Here are some pictures to help:

Note the backup lamp switch going into the transmission. :(

This next one you can see it a little bit better.

Any ideas? I'm sure this is having some ill effect on my car (thinking I need to fix it).

No... Shifts well in every gear except 5th is sometimes a bit sticky to go in (but will go in with a quick or slightly forceful motion).

I was just out looking at that when I was thinking that it might have something to do with the clutch and disengaging the flywheel.

i have experiance enoughto tell you "don't fix it unless its broke" is a golden rule... as long as you are not complaning about your clutch then let it be, i will check mine to see if their is any thing that can draw my attention in the pics you posted but so far every thing looks OK to me.

Yeah... just seemed a bit weird with the threads out so far on that, for some reason it seemed like it needed to be screwed in further (at a glance anyway). I DEFINATELY agree with the "Don't fix it if it isn't broke" thing.
