Got 55'000 miles on 98 Nubira.
Will be replacing leaky tranny pan gasket.
Is it a really big deal if I leave the old tranny fluid filter in it?
Now just got the new gasket.
Apparently lots of my old fluid leaked out and it was reving up when temperatures were dropping to the freezing.
Plus it was making ratteling noise when it was cold in the morning.
So I flashed it at 54'500 miles.
Now have to drop the pan again. What a waist of money.

I know, as I mentioned, I also got the kit for only $25.daewooluvr wrote:wow you just got ripped. I bought the kit that includes the gasket and filter for $27.Comrade wrote:Dumped $100 for the tranny gasket at the dealer in Houston.
Will get the filter when I get home to Tulsa.
Then I'll take it to the Firestone do get it swaped.
The dealer wants $80+ for the gasket alone, granted it is rubber and the other cork, but still, it is worth it.

You can do a search online and find the part number, but you can pretty much go into Autozone and as for a Transmission Filter Kit for a Nubira. They'll have what you need. I asked for a Lanos and they had it.
If they can't find it, ask them to search for any car that has the 4T40-E GM transmission, they are really common.
