ABS LIGHT STAYING ON - LANOS 1.6 16V TWIN CAM 98

Post by UK_REZ_ESSEXRACERS.COM »

ok guys, quick question, i had the ABS light come on from time to time, and stay on,i was told it could be dirty abs sensors, so i had new pads and discs fitted, and the sensors cleaned, but the abs light still comes on, and stays on. i was wondering if there was a reset thingy that needs to be done? i was told that it may need something like a sequance in key turns etc to reset the ecu or something?

can anyone advise...ps when abs light is on, the abs doesnt work ( i dont think) or is it possible its a problem with the abs. cheers in advance. rez

When ABS light is on, the ABS system is not working but the overall braking system is functioning.

I had my ABS light come on from a bad ground. It also made my fuel gauge read incorrectly. Check your grounds and fuses to make sure all is well.

I also have this similar problem with my 1.4manual dohc aveo.

My ABS light since few days ago sometimes doesnt go off, or it suddenly pops up when I am driving and refuses to go off.

Our servicing center for chevrolet serviced it yesterday, replace the wirings which they suspect cause the problem but today the same problem occurs. Its getting on my nerves. They are waiting for an engineering from GM to visit them next week and see if that engineer have any solution to it.

Hope they can find a solution soon. Or else my life is is great danger.

Did you ever find the solution to your problem?
I have the same thing with 98 Nubira.
They suspect it's the front ABS wire harness.
Swaping EBCM did not help.
