Need Help finding Epica Transmission Codes (5 speed)

Post by eljunito »

People:

Ive read all topics about transmissions and I've made my own combination. Need help finding the transmission codes for the Chevrolet Epica 5 speed. I've tried to search for it at my work (GM) and had access to see the gears. I found the part number and called Canada GM but I need to know the transmission codes in order to find the prices.

Can someone help find this code? This car was not export to PR, so I don't know if it's available at the US or anywhere else.

Any help is appreciated.

Is it the Epica with the 4-cylinder engine, or straight 6?

As per the system, it appeared as 4 cylinder engine D20.

D20 is the 5spd tranny name.

Your engine is a U20SED if it's a 2.0L

Do you need a replacement 5spd transmission??

I have a Lanos '03 Engine 1.6

I want to change the gear ratios of 2nd 3rd & 4th but I can't buy then thru GM if I don't have the transmission codes :(

The Epica transmission is the same to the Lanos, Nubira & Leganza. It's just in and out but I'm only interested on the 2nd 3rd & 4th 8)

Yes but the Lanos and Nubira have different manual Transmissions

Lanos = D16
Nubi = D20

So, if you have the 1.6 engine my best guess would be you have the D16... but again just a guess.

I know they are not the same but the gear of both engines are compatibles.

I just to want to know if someone has an Epica or can find the transmission codes mostly located at the trunk, for example, go to this link:

http://www.vibratesoftware.com/html_hel ... ssions.htm

The Epica is not available at PR, so I need the transmission codes to find the gears and buy them directly from GM.

i conatcted the local dealers here to check if had any codes for the manual tranny Epicas but unfortunately they dont coz we dont get manuals here. same story goes for UAE and Kuwait they dont have them either..
i tried compairing the numbers in my owners manual to see whats the name of the tranny and although the site u posted says D20.. the ratios in the owners manual dont match up.. (mind u this is for the 4 cylinder Epicas)
surpring also the autos are not the 4T40, they matchup with the ZF 4HP 16
sorry i couldnt be of more help :(

Do the ratios for your 5spd match up with any of the D16/F16 transmissions listed in the sticky post in this area?

I've never heard of a 1.6L with a D20 so I would also assume you have one of the versions of D16 transmissions.

I will see if I can get an RPO for the D16 since it's name "D16" is the Getrag part number and not the GM number.

Thanks for the codes

Your transmission is the same as Nubira but with the final ratio of Lanos. The Lanos at PR has 3.50 at the final ratio.

Well... My manual calls that transmission D16 in about 50 places.

In the manual transaxle identification number plate it simply shows three different models of D16...

SY = D16 with 1.4L DOHC
CR = D16 with 1.6L DOHC
CV = D16 with 1.8L DOHC

I'm going to have to assume you have a CR sticker on your 5spd.

This is off topic but my manual shows the following info for automatics...

PART CODE = AW
Manufacturer = ZF
Model number = 4HP16

PART CODE = T1
Manufacturer = Aisin
model number = 81-40LE

Sorry I can't be of more help.... there are no GM RPO numbers anywhere... just D16
