Transmission

Post by donquijote2005 »

I have a 2000 Leganza. The problems start when the weather is cold. It not shift from 3rd to 4th when i driving in the highway because the temperature never reach a quarter in the temperature level. I know the car has a sensor in the transmission that prevent the shift in order to warm up the car. But the car never reaches that temperature in winter. Can i disable that sensor? Is the sensor inside the transmission? What can i do?

That's the next step, because i see the water circulating (not that much but visible) when i start the car in the morning.

Hey mate,

I had the same problem with my Leganza.
It wouldn't warm up in the cold, and would take ages when it did (around 10-15 mins on highway) to got warm enough to shift. Another problem it had is it would cool when going down a mountain and not accelerating (and therefore shift down to third).

All I did was replace the Thermostat (with housing) as it had a leak. Solved all the issues in one hit.

Hope this helps.
