1- did the brake component fit your rear suspension member with no mods? or did you swap the whole rear suspension system?

2- did you do any modifications to your proportional valves?
1. I just change alle components from Vectra A.

ok... one stupid question:

are the Astra mk2 gte or mk3 gsi read disks the same as the ones on Vectra A??

we only have the Vectras here and they are my only hope for the swap

i got mysef a used lanoos rear axel to do bolt pattern comparison to make sure of the comptability prior to purcahse...

and yes i am planning to get the e brake cables as well and i am still not sure what to do with the proportional valves... probably will drill them to 1.25 mm as Gsiturbo advised

i couldn't understand a word either but as they say... a pic says more than a thousand words can

i used the link to the pic in the forum to check on what those guys are doing and man... i found a 20 page gallery full of daewoo hard work

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj45/Vitaly123

i found a swap project for rear brake system with both calipers marked clearly with VECTRA so the setup is swappable, i found that their should be some support for the e brake cable that will require modification if i decided not to use the whole Vectra beam (i am not going to use it as it will cost me 5 times more than just getting the brake setup)... i couldn't see on the Vectra beam any support for the cable so i am not sure how is it put their

in my opinion the mod done on the lanos above regarding the e brake cable support is not that "photogenic" if you know what i mean... (welding and so) but i found an old pic for a lanos with rear disks that have the support bolted to the rear beam and it looks very nice

Image

i think this is what i am going to go with since the welded support turned out to be too low and the cable was rubbing against the support member... and i am going to search more to see how is this handled on the OEM Vectra beam

Photo is the rear of Stefan's Astra Mk2 after "cleaning", not one of Lanos. But besides the lack of the rear anti-sway bar, Lanos' axle should be identical. Apparently, there are two variants of it - one with the rear hubs BOLTED (suitable for rear disc conversion), and one WELDED (not suitable, unfortunately - or at least it is not a straight-forward conversion).

hmmm... you are quite right

i am going for the bolted rear disks for the swap project and i have an old axel with me to do bolt pattern matching just in case... so far all the pics i came across says that the bolt pattern is a perfect match

i removed the proportional valves out of an old brake master that i have yesterday in preparation for drilling it to 1.25 mm... or should i got for 1.50?? i am afraid of rear lockup

It doesn't take long to bleed the rears...do the conversion first, drive the car and judge it for yourself. Since Lanos uses 3 different front brake setups, its possible there are slight variances in the master cylinder as well....

Re: Brake in Lanos

i thought their is only two different brake setups for lanos

20mm master cyl. with 17mm piston calipers and 236mm rotors (1.3/1.5 SOHC)
22mm master cyl. with 19mm piston calipers and 256mm rotors (1.6 DOHC)

as per the parts manual the above setups have different proportional valves (3488967 for 1.5 SOHC and 426120 for 1.6 lanos) and when comparing those part numbers with the ones from the nubira i found out that the P valves from a 1.6 lanos are found on nubira notch back and lift back... the one from the 1.5 is found on the station wagon... i couldn't link the valves to engine versions as i don't quite understand the chart on the parts manual (the 2.0 version should have rear disks)

anyways i am now a bit confused... i thought the more powerful setup on a lanos should be found on a nubira and even better one for the heavy rear station... now i see the setup on a 1.5 SOHC is on the station wagon... what is the logic behind that??? (we are talking P valves only here)

could this be due to weight distribution?? i mean the 1.6 lanos got heaver front due to heavier engine and thus lighter rear so it has to get less braking power or else it will lock compared to a 1.5 SOHC??... under this logic the station wagon will have better rear grip due to weight and thus can afford more braking power than the lift back and notch back versions... right???

now aside of all that... i currently have the P valves from the 1.5 SOHC setup (P/N 3488967) so should i start with those or is it better off to get the ones from a nubira for starters?

just remembered something... does the 2.0 version of the nubira have ABS???

if so then this version got no P valves to start with... i am stuck with the 1.5/1.6 P valves... which ones to use??

Disc rotor, for all, is 236mm. If your car is using 256mm stock, leave the stock pv's.
OIC... you are talking about types... i know of the TEVES and DAC versions... never knew lanoses came with ATE as well...i was focused on measurements so their are 236mm and 256mm rotors

i have upgraded my brakes from the OEM 236mm to the 256mm setup but i am currently using the 236mm setup's P valves... will get a couple of P valves out of a nubira and test the rear brakes performance after the upgrade.... if the rear is too weak i will drill the P valves as you advised

just realized i didn't update this thread:

first i found out that i do have the P valves from a nubira (3/30) so my only option was to port the P valves and test... did so and tested the car, i developed rear lockup on loose surfaces but the front does lock first... i don't see a reason for going at any more braking power to the rear at this point

so then... as i think this is the 5th thread for rear disc's.
im sure there needs to be a chart, with a sticky for all to know.
as engine/car compared to what rear disc's are needed then with the P v's.
i have a lanos 1.6 Dohc, and im still confused on what i need EXACTLY for rear disc.
