port and polished cylinder head, and aveo turbo talk

Well I just found a cylinder head with the camshafts on car-part.com for $220 Shipped. I am getting custom cams from delta cams (hence the reason why I'm getting the cylinder head with cams).
I wasnt intending to buy a cylinder head too, but since this way will be cheaper for the cams, I was thinking about getting the cylinder head Ported and Polished.

Anyone get their cylinder head ported and polished? What gains should I expect (I'm not getting a full out race p&p, more of a medium p&p job)?

By the way I have the 1.6 16v dohc.

You might get 3-5 hp, depending on how aggressive you are inside the head.

Are you going to try and port match the plastic casting of the manifold... it should be pretty close to start with

im not doing anything to the intake manifold cause its plastic, but i was thinking since I was getting a cylinderhead with the cams, I was just throwing out the idea of port and polishing that.

would roughly $300 - $350 be worth it?
One guy said i can see gains of about 20HP by "maxing it out," You think its true?

Were you talking about 3-5hp to the wheels?

Engine mods that effect airflow gain power exponentially...

a port and polish may only be worth 3-5 whp on it's own, but with a cam may end up being worth more like 10

So stack everything up... cai, port/polish/cam... you're probably looking at 25-30whp

Since it is a mod that will gain power with other mods (kinda like trying to make an efficient vacuum).

im just wondering, would a alumimum lanos intake mani work on a aveo head? if so you could look for one (i have 2 om not useing) adn p&p that too for more gains

I hope someone can put the debate to rest. They have very different gasket styles, but same port shape. I wonder if the plastic gasket is just different because its phenolic

the aluminum manifold uses a paper gasket and the plastic uses o-rings.

outside of that they are interchangeable.

hell if you want to drive to detroit with your extra cylender head so we can match them up, the intake mani is yours. ill donate a intake mani in the name of woo science. i would say ship it to you, but id like to see it on the aveo head, so if there is any snag i can try to see if there is any thing to do to fix it. so hop in the aveo one day and get your ass here, lol

I don't know about HP figures, but headworks gave me a nice performace upgrade... It feels great... I don't use nos spraying in the town almost at all, because I don't need to anymore...
